First Lady Sharonne Murphy
Sharonne Chanel Murphy is an anointed woman of God, wife and mother. She serves as First Lady alongside her husband, Pastor Stephen L. Murphy, Sr., at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle in Flint, MI. She is the mother of four beautiful children. Singing praises unto the Lord is truly her passion, as she loves God with all of her being.
In grade school, Sharonne was a part of The Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, MI. She also participated in the Rhonda Walker Foundation as a mentee and a peer educator for Alternatives for Girls Organization in Detroit. While attending Spring Arbor University, she served two years as president of The Gospel Choir. A sincere lover of music, Sharonne enjoys all genres, but her love for gospel supersedes them all. Her love of music was nurtured by her father, Rev. Thomas B. Pettus, who was a member of the Messiah Baptist Church music ministry staff, and the Minister of Music at Holy Hope Church Baptist, both of Detroit.
She is currently a member of the anointed gospel quartet group JOY. Singing in JOY for the last seven years has afforded her the opportunity to travel and perform throughout the United States.
Her life’s scripture is 2 Corinthians 12:9, which says, “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” She truly lives by the sentiment that in her weakest times, God is at His strongest!
